Today I attended the funeral of a friend whom I knew for 15 years now. For this guy the term "friend" might not match. In the past I often pondered if we are friends or just people sharing the same interests. Spending time together with other descendants of the same alien race of weirdos.
He did not understand the concept of "giving and taking" in the first place. He was the guy taking everything under the cloak of "borrowing" skipping the returning part of this transaction.
It took several years for him to become a quite fair character. I think life taught him a lesson back in the day. We never knew his birthday, his age, his relatives or how he earns money. A complete myestery and we never dared to ask.
I never saw him laughing, but sometimes the shadow of an amused smirk became visibile for a split second. He worked as a bouncer for 5 years and I think he must have been born with this reserved bouncer authority. He was not the guy to negotiate with.
All in all he was hell of an emotionless cynic. You can not like such a guy nor can you call him a friend but we did.
Now he is gone into the unaproachable void or an even more remote place of this expanding universe. Maybe he is now preparing to subjugate the barbarian hordes on Pluto. A glimpse of an amused smirk seen only by his enemies in the moment of their defeat.
Rest well old friend. You ruled it.
